Amid expected widespread and speculation of moving to Barcelona, Antoine Griezmann has announced he is leaving Atletico Madrid at the end of the season. France World Cup winner Griezmann has had a five-year run with the club. He was probably the Standout Star of the Diego Simeone’s side. His run will come to an end as he will play his last game with Atletico Madrid. They will conclude their La Liga campaign and play an away game with Levante on Saturday.

A post from Atleti's official Twitter Account on Tuesday read "Antoine Griezmann has informed the club he will not continue as a Rojiblanco next season." Barcelona is certain to be his next destination with Griezmann, 28. He is reportedly set on making a move he spurned last year.

The former Real Sociedad man appeared destined to push through a move to Camp Nou during the 2018 World Cup. He underwent a sudden change of focus as he signed a new Atleti contract through to 2023.

That decision was notified in a lengthy television special. Griezmann also appeared in a video posted to the Rojiblancos’ social media accounts to announce his exit. “It’s been a massive and amazing five years,” Griezmann said.

Griezmann becomes the third big name to head for the Atleti exit at the end of a season. It finished as runner-up to Barca in La Liga. France teammate Lucas Hernandez has already signed a contract with Bayern Munich. The long-serving defender Diego Godin is expected to join Serie A.
